description

WIPAC is participating in the 2015 Wisconsin Science Festival, a statewide celebration of all things science to be held Thursday through Sunday, October 22-25.

Visit neutrino world, an interactive art-science installation where the bizarre world of particle physics comes to life. Experience the world of the neutrino, often called the weirdest particle in nature. Learn about the unique properties of the so called ghost particle that can pass through the Earth undeflected, and exist in three identities at the same time. Learn about how despite being born with a single identity, they can mutate into another neutrino identity when they are detected by experiments such as IceCube, the cubic-kilometer neutrino detector at the South Pole. Neutrino world is a collaboration between IceCube researchers and media artist Mark-David Hosale that transforms the horseshoe space at the Discovery Building into an interactive stage to experience the quantum world from the eyes of an artist. 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday and Friday and from 10:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday. Come join the fun!
