description

Join IceCube, the cubic-kilometer detector in Antarctica, and engage students in inquiry-based activities in the classroom. This is all about cool science, especially physics, astronomy and math. Workshop participants will learn about elementary particles and interactions with a role-play hands-on activity. This interactive activity can be used as an introduction to the Standard Model of Particle Physics or to deepen student understanding of matter and forces, particle properties and how they relate to how the universe works. Participants also will use IceCube data to learn how scientists are exploring the universe using tiny neutrinos.
