A quiet week at the Pole.  And when the quiet stems from a well-behaved detector, there’s nothing to complain about. IceCube winterover Johannes and others took advantage of the remaining daylight to get in some Frisbee while they still can.  You can see how long the shadows are, evidence that the sun is getting lower in the sky.  It’s even clearer in the shot below, taken facing the sun, which is mostly blocked by the plumes from the power plant stacks. Having enough power for the winter means filling up on fuel before the summer season ends— IceCube winterover Raffaela had a hand in that.
