Time flies, even at the South Pole.  The winterover staff are getting ready for the pending station close, which entails continuing rounds of cleaning and safety inspections.  With all the recent goodbyes exchanged between those departing and those left behind, some of last week’s planes brought still more arrivals to the Pole—the remaining winterovers coming to spend the season—and with them lots of mail (!) and “freshies,” as they like to call their fresh produce.  IceCube winterover Kathrin got to park a Herc outside and captured a maturing pepper in the greenhouse inside.
