It was a fairly busy week at the Pole. IceCube’s new winterovers made their first IceTop snow measurements, an outdoor task that requires daylight to perform. Driving around the detector in a PistenBully helps take care of business more quickly and easily. Since it’s summer there, the weather is rather mild (for the Pole!), but the skies are not always clear. However, during their rounds, the sky cleared, giving them wonderful sun halos again this week. The bottom image shows a panoramic shot that includes 100 degrees of the sky—see which of the halo phenomena you can discern in the details of this great image.
