Week 48 at the Pole

Winterover in framed by sun halo and sun dogs.

The sun provided all sorts of photo opportunities at the Pole last week.  Above we see IceCube winterover Josh framed nicely in front of a sun halo with faint sun dogs.  Below we have a spectacular sun halo filling the sky as the winterovers walk back from the IceCube Lab (ICL). Martin and Josh had several trips out to the ICL last week, and they stopped for a thumbs-up photo in front of what they called “Mt. ICL,” a large snowdrift resulting from the winter winds.  The new IceCube winterovers continued their busy schedule last week, which included snowmobile training, tours at the ICL, and a postponed Thanksgiving dinner.
