Week 47 at the Pole

Winterover Martin digging through bundle of cables in a computer rack

Have we mentioned all the cables? Well, there are a lot of cables in the IceCube Lab, and sometimes they’re a bit in the way, as they appear to be in this image of winterover Martin trying to get at something in the computer rack that needs attention.  Once retrieved, Martin was seriously involved in surgery on the computer he extracted.  Last week, with three IceCube newcomers at the station, the enlarged team worked on several equipment installations and repairs. It was Thanksgiving last week, too.  A traditional meal was served in the galley, which was decorated for the occasion, complete with a fireplace to cozy things up.  The mood of the busy and productive week was captured well in winterover facial expressions.
