They claim the weather at the Pole recently has been amazing, and you’d think that meant sunny and warm, which it did—but “warm” is relative to what you’re accustomed to.  Last week at the Pole, temperatures were barely at –50 ºF.   But with low winds, things were feeling kind of warm-like to the winterovers.  There were sun dogs back in the skies and some interesting snow formations on the ground.  And a couple of flights brought new people and fresh produce to the Pole … but also took away friends.  It’s the season of ongoing good-bye parties.  IceCube’s 2018-19 winterovers Benjamin and Kathrin are still at the Pole, nearing the end of their stay and just waiting to overlap a bit with the incoming 2019-20 winterovers.
