Week 35 at the Pole

Now you see him, now you don’t!  Winterover Martin had some fun taking photos at the ceremonial pole last week.  Although it was still quite cold outside (the week began with temperatures below -100 F for a full day), the light was sufficient for Martin to need only 0.9 seconds of standing still for a selfie, as opposed to 20 seconds or longer when it’s darker.  The cold weather prompted a “food pull” through the beer can, where all hands on deck made light work of carrying supplies up the stairs instead of by elevator (it’s happened before).  They did in only 10 minutes—that’s teamwork!

Same shot of ceremonial South Pole (as above) but without the person lying down.
