Week 31 at the Pole

It was a pretty busy time last week at the Pole. IceCube’s winterovers had some unrelated hardware incidents that required troubleshooting and fixing, and a trip out to the IceCube Lab.  But look what a great photo winterover Raffaela captured on that trip, with the ICL backlit by a full moon. The fire brigade got together last week for a couple of group photos, serious and silly.  In the first of the two photos, you’ll find IceCube’s two winterovers among those kneeling, Raffi on the left and Johannes on the right.  The fun wasn’t left just to the fire brigade, as last week many of the station’s winterovers took part in the winter film festival, a yearly tradition among the South Pole stations in which short films are shot, edited, and distributed within a 48-hour period (final products not yet available). Even the auroras were busy, too.
