Sky full of auroras at the South Pole

The sun will rise again … at some point.  But in the meanwhile, it’s still winter and the skies remain dark.  A bright moon had been lighting things up lately, but last week it was gone, leaving it up to the auroras to provide the overhead entertainment.  The detector kept IceCube’s winterovers quite busy last week, but they nonetheless fit in some work on a programming class and some time in the kitchen.  That’s winterover Martin frying up a batch of schnitzel, which made a nicely plated meal.
