The “Polympics” continued last week at the South Pole.  Some of the events were quite fitting to the environment, such as sled pull, flag throw, and 100 m sastrugi run.  The festivities closed with IceCube’s winterovers coming away with a few medals, including a gold—way to go! As for the detector, it had a stable week with no major issues, and the winterovers smoothly performed some maintenance items. In the image above, we see IceCube winterover John removing the cover from the IceAct field telescope, while the sky is still grabbing its deserved attention.
