Week 26 at the Pole

They work hard, and they play hard. This week, play involved some billiards—the annual tournament is on. IceCube winterover Felipe is concentrating on his next move. Felipe can also be seen below during one of four videoconferences held during the week with public schools in Chile. The first image is from the South Pole, while the second shows him as the students saw him during the videocast.

There were plenty of auroras this week, too, some formed into a shimmering heart over the station, and meteors as well, a bright one shown in the last fisheye image below.
