It was very cold last week at the Pole—by the end of the week it had reached –70 °C (–94 °F). On that coldest of days, the auroras were apparently exploding all over the sky, but the winterovers weren’t able to capture photos of them as it was just too cold for the both the photographer and the equipment. Nonetheless, they got some great outdoor photos earlier in the week under bright moonlight (no headlamps needed to walk around outside), the last of which shows a nice lunar halo, not quite with moon dogs.
