Week 22 at the Pole

Another busy week for IceCube’s winterovers—they were paged several times to deal with crashes and other irregularities.  Despite the activity, the detector was quite stable with minimal down time.  The station had a special Memorial Day lunch last week, complete with hamburgers and hotdogs.  And auroras!  Although Martin (with arms up, above) tends to dominate the photo credits, James got a couple in this week.  There’s a photo of Martin while he was setting up his cameral on the observation deck (below), followed by one showing wispy lines of aurora across a dark starry sky with part of the station in the foreground.  The bottom image was taken by Martin from the observation deck.
