There were different groups of South Pole visitors last week—some human, and some not.  The nonhuman visitor came from Japan—IceCube-san, seen here on the snow outside the IceCube Lab, above. The other visitors were adventure travelers, who were based at a campsite not far from the station. IceCube winterover Benjamin showed them around the station and was afterward invited to join them for dinner at their camp. Last week also saw more comings and goings of IceCube staff, a berm cleanup and a carpenter’s party, and a great shot of a halo around the sun.
